Bellamy chosen as 2026 Porter Fund Scholarship Recipient

Each year the Porter Fund awards a $5,000 Porter Scholarship to a student enrolled in the University of Central Arkansas MFA Writing Program. The 2025 Porter Fund Scholarship recipient is Devon Bellamy. ​​​

Devon Bellamy is a recent graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio. For the past twenty-one years, they have called Texas their home, but they consider themselves as one born for travel. Arkansas brings with it new adventures, new connections, and just as many new words to love.

They write primarily fiction and creative nonfiction, but they love to create hybrid pieces that play with genre boundaries. Their work is published in the Trinity Review as well as the Trinitonian. When they’re not writing, they enjoy sketching at their desk, surrounded by sticky notes and with a lap full of orange cat, and they can often be seen at any local coffee shop that can pull good espresso.
