University of Central Arkansas Scholarship
 

Each year the Porter Fund has awarded a Porter Scholarship to a student enrolled in the University of Central Arkansas MFA Writing Program. 2020 Porter Fund Scholarship recipient, Garrett Long, received $4,000. 

 

Long, from McKinney, Texas, received his Bachelor’s degree in English and History from the University of North Texas in 2017. In 2018 he relocated to Hot Springs to become a Residential Mentor for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts. He is grateful for the opportunity to continue his journey as a writer in the Natural State and in the Arkansas Writers MFA Program through this scholarship.
